You know, deck them halls and all that stuff?

Big news you guys, we have a Christmas Tree! I have never decorated my own house for Christmas before. Since I go back home to Edmonton every year to be with my family I’ve just never bothered. But this year I really wanted a tree. Maybe because I finally have a place that feels homey and settled. Or maybe my roommates’ Pinterest-Craft-Decorating-Love-Fest is rubbing off on me. Maybe my Grinch heart grew three sizes this year.

While we were planning our Community Group Christmas party I came up with the genius (ahem, totally selfish) idea that it would be really fun to decorate a Christmas tree together. Then I made my co-leader go get one for “the group”. He was a really good sport about the whole thing and pretended to not see through my scheme or mind the pine needles in his car. Thanks, Z!

It actually did end up being fun for everyone, not just me. Some of the guys got really into making snowflakes and hanging the ornaments in exactly the right configuration. Us gals made a whole bunch of Martha Stewart puff balls out of tissue paper. Some of us were better at it than others. My Roomies made a paper chain garland to hang over the fireplace.

Our house is so warm and friendly and smells like Christmas now. AND WE HAVE A CHRISTMAS TREE!

Did I mention that?

  1. Way to go Sarah, roomies, and small group!
Love the MS snowflakes– such a lovely touch. But isn’t there a song written about this? I’ll have a blue, blue, blue Christmas… oh. Maybe that was a sad song, not about snowflakes. Whatever. Yours are THE BEST!
