Words cannot really describe what it’s like to be in an Olympic city, but I will do my best. Vancouver is a city on fire! Everyone is happy and wants to stop and talk to you. I have gotten more high fives from random strangers in the past few days than I have in my whole entire life. Everyone is wearing Team Canada hoodies/coats/hats/mitts. People are smiling, they are happy…sometimes they are drunk. There is music and light and dancing and laughter everywhere.
Canada is a country that seems to struggle with identity. We’re vast, we’re diverse, we’re made up of bits and pieces of other cultures and people from other places. But these Olympics have really seen all the best bits and pieces of Canada come together. And never, ever have I been so proud to be Canadian. I’m having the time of my life.
Sarah – I am thrilled that you are having the time of your life. We live in a GREAT country, and it is nice to be reminded of that sometimes.
The Olympics are looking wonderful from afar as well. The coverage and commentary I have watched has been very good.
The winter Olympics ROCK!
